I am due a lump sum of divorce settlement from my ex up to the amount of £7,000; I will like to redirect this money towards my current and future CSA payments. Is this option viable and if so please advice on how this arrangement can be implemented

Hi there 🙂

This probably could be done but it might also open a can of worms for you....the CSA might think that if you can afford such a large payment that you should be paying more!

It might be better to open a separate account for the lump sum and have a standing order set up for the monthly amount, making sure that you reference the payment as "Child Maintenance for (name of child)". Have a word with your bank and see what they come up with.

I so second Nannyjane, the CSA are a law to themselves and can take ages to sort things out, and as Nannyjane says they may think you have more money than £7000 - so a separate bank account is a great idea!!!
