Wow, that's harsh to say the least. I'm afraid I haven't heard of a case similar to yours on here. It still might be worth speaking to the CMS to see if there are any grounds at all you could apply for a variation on, though I can't think of any to hand I'm afraid.

I don't know your circumstances, but might it be worth considering working in the UK instead - with that level of tax (and maintenance based on gross) it must be very marginal as to whether it's actually worth working over there.
