dear CMO,

i have been seperated (but never married) for 11 years. my daughter lives with her mother. she is 11. I have a contact order (which my ex frequently ignores), but the maintanance has been a verbal agreement. However, my ex constantly changes her mind as to what she considers 'fair' payment of maintenance , and is impossible to communicate with. she frequently used her financial issues to blackmail me for more money - "you cant see your daughter unless you give me £££" etc. i continue to pay the agreed amount but this really makes little difference to her hostility level. I wish to pay her through the CSA or whatever its called these days, so i don't have to deal with her directly regarding money any more - she too often uses our child as weapon in her constant war against me (not an exageration!). is this possible?

Also, i have a new wife. Would my new wifes income be used in the calculation for how much to pay, or just mine? My new wife hasn't legally adopted her or become her legal guardian in any way.

thanks for your help,

Paul uk

Hi
and welcome

I've moved this to finance so it has its own thread for clarity.

No, your new wife's income isn't taken into account - it's purely yours, though if there are any child tax credits, I think they may be - can you tell us if that's the case - if so, we can ask CMO to pop on with advice.
