Hi all.
Hoping for some help and advice.
I have the option of an Electric Car through a Salary Sacrifice scheme at work.
I understand that leasing the car through work on the salary sacrifice scheme means the money is taken before tax and national insurance. Therefore it does not show with the HMRC on my p60. So I save on tax and national insurance
So my question is - Does this effect the amount of child maintenance I pay, as I sacrifice salary before tax and national insurance? So my gross salary would be £600 lower per month.
This car is not used for any company business. Its purely a benefit thats means I can personally use the car.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
hi,
this is from a companies electric car salary sacrifice scheme:
Will participation in the Scheme have any impact on my child maintenance payments?
Child maintenance payments are calculated by reference to your taxable gross income, after any pension contributions, and any salary sacrificed are taken in to account. The taxable value of your new company car should not be included in the calculation, but the receiving parent may ask that it is taken in to account as an ‘additional income
variation’. If you join the Scheme your income for child maintenance purposes should decrease, and your child maintenance payments may therefore be reduced as a result.

I am not certain but I have come across dads that stated that they pay higher maintenance due to a company car scheme. I recommend you join this support group for paying parents:
