[Solved] Tax Credits

As far as I can see, especially with changes incoming with CSA/CMO; if an ex is claiming universal tax credits (including Child Tax Credit) then no maintenance is due (according to the new CMO maintenance calculator).

Is that right?

For years I have wanted my kids to have the benefit of what I pay through the CSA, rather than supplement a new income and new family.

And how would you find out if an ex is claiming tax credits? I wouldn't trust the CSA to know about it. I had to prove my ex had put false information on her CSA forms when she binned the ten year old Court Order to bump up the payment to pay for a new baby.

Any help well received! Would love to give them the money direct.

ps - just discovered this site - wish it was around ten years ago!!

Yeah was a surprise to me. When you clicked into the calculator that the ex claimed any form of Universal Credit, it says you are not liable to pay maintenance??

Is this not the case if the person paying the maintanance is getting these benefits then they are not liable?

I have just checked the CS calculator and it syas nothing of the person recieving the maintanance payments.

Can you send a link to the source of your information?

Regards,

Dave

Schoolboy error - misread paying/receiving!

Seemed too good to be true!

Are there any details yet on the CSA to CMO move. And what it means in reality?

Cheers

Mike

Hi Mike,

I have a very basic understanding which may not be correct, there are stickies at the top of the child maintanance section.

The CS still exists but any new pplictions go to the CMO and there are no plans to migrate.

If you or another opens a case now it goes to the CMO and the new rules apply.

Read the stickies as they will be much more informative than I can be.

Sorry I cannot be more help.

Regards,

Dave

I'm going to move this thread to the Child Maintenance section, if you check out the stickies at the top of this section in particular the one about the changes in CSA in 2014 you'll be able to find out a bit more about it.
