Hi all,

i have a son who turned five today and he lives with his mum - i was supposed to go and take him out for the day on sunday but due to ill health i didnt make it and i am going and seeing him on thursday instead - my problem is my ex - she is now kicking off every time she can - i only see my son every other thursday because of the disatnce between us after i moved away with work when we split up but she doesnt seem to understand that - while i was with her she also had a daughter from a previous relationship - while we weere together i bought her up as my own and im now getting grief over a year on that i see her differently to my own son - the other issue i have is that i pay 300 maintanence for my son but her ex only pays 120 for his daughter??? surely if we do the same job and earn similar money this is wrong??????? any help on what i should say or do would be appreciated

cheers

Hi there and welcome 🙂

Some mothers use their children to hurt their ex's, its not uncommon for them to be unreasonable.

As far as CSA payments are concerned you can calculate how much you should be paying quite easily. If you google CSA calculator you will be able to input your salary etc into their calculator and get an amount. There is also a very helpful sticky situated at the top of the Finance section on here, its called "How the CSA calculate Payments" and provides a link to a CSA leaflet that explains how they work the amount out and also tells you about any deductions that you are entitled to for joint debts etc. I think you may possibly be entitled to some back for travelling expenses , although not !00% sure....The leaflet is well worth a look at, and I believe it has helped other Dads that felt they were overpaying.

Good luck 🙂
