[Solved] Playing with our kids

A recent survey in the UK claims that one fifth of parents have "forgotten how to play" with their children. One third confessed that they find play boring while others lacked time or ideas.

1 in 3 parents chose to play computer games with their children, although the children tended to prefer playing these on their own. The games the children, aged 5-15, said they most wanted to play with their parents were outdoor games and board games.

So...what games do you like best to play with your kids? What is your kids' favourite games?

Having 2 girls aged 3 & 7, the games can be pretty girly, like shops, schools, babies etc, but for me its about spending time with them. I must admit, I have tried to introduce some "boy" elements into our games, like running the dolls over with the toy car or putting the wrong clothes on them, much to my 3 yr old's bewilderment as to why they [censored] I would wanna do that! 😆

This was a constant battle between my ex and I... "You never spend enough time playing with them, yap yap yap..." I'll be honest, I find reading books or doing jigsaws with the kids rather boring (however my kids love it). Yet I'll happily chase them around the house or throw them about, wrestle with them or let them jump on me etc... It's still playing, although they might not learn much from it. Sometimes though playing is just playing.

I'll admit, I was never very good at those things, but I did tend to include them quite a bit in the stuff I did (my son went with me in my microlight at age 3) and I was there a lot for them. In addition, if I promised to do something with them, then that promise was always kept, and they knew that they could rely on that.
