Sorry if this is an odd question for this site but it is a question relating to the rights of a biological father and legal parent status.
I have a question about registering a birth and who is eligible to go on the birth certificate.
I am a woman in a civil partnership. My partner and I want to have a baby with a mutual friend of ours. This friend is a gay man who will be known to the child and be very much involved as the father of our child within our family unit. For this reason it is important to all of us that the birth certificate shows the names of the biological mother and the biological father. My civil partner (the non biological mother/parent) will apply for parental responsibility. My partner and I will be the primary carers of the child but the father will be involved and will see the child regularly.
I understand that in our situation the law favours myself and my partner in a civil partnership as the legal parents and named on the birth certificate and I can understand that this is right for most civil partner situations but in this scenario we want the father to be recognised on the birth certificate as a legal parent.
