HI
I am in a vey bad position. Wife made false domestic abuse allegations against me. The children have been removed from me when the wife left in Dec 2012 and I have no contact. I need a good robust barrister to help me next Tue in Macclesfield Courts over children matters. Anybody give advice on a good barrister that will clear my name please?
I am in Cheshire
Steve

Hi Steve 🙂

I too live in Cheshire. I have a Mckenzie Friend who mentioned that he knew a very good barrister in Liverpool, would you like me to enquire?

Unless things have changed, I don't think you can contact a barrister directly, I think that has to be done through a solicitor still.

Hi you can now contact a barrister direct from 6 July 2004; the rules governing access to the Bar were relaxed to allow a greater degree of public access to barristers
Members of the public, professionals and companies can instruct a barrister without the use of a solicitor.
Self-employed barristers are individual practitioners who may work as a sole practitioner or, more commonly, in groups of offices known as chambers. The Bar Directory is the main listing source for barristers in England and Wales.

Thank you all
I got some good advice from the forum and have got a barrister now. They are a funny bunch. Even when you want to pay them money they appear to talk to you from an ivory tower. Oh well. At least I have one now. It was not through direct access. As I see it the law has not been relaxed and was told several times direct access was not an option.
I now have to prove I am innocent against the FALSE allegations against me. The wife now has even gone as far as to block grandparent and sister access as she now sees them as unfit even though only a few months ago they were suitable as baby sitters!
Thanks to all once again
Steve

Just out of interest how much in general do barristers cost?

It depends on the barrister - the one I used a few years ago charged by the half-day (which included preparation) which was about 2,000 a time - plus the solicitors fees of course.
