[Solved] British, but living overseas

Hi,
I am a British guy living and working in the Middle East (UAE). My wife and daughter also live out here. We have been here for just over 2 years. Due to many reasons we have split up recently and I have moved in to a friends place.
I am looking to find out what i need to do and where do I stand legally regarding asking my wife for a divorce. Does this come under local UAE law or will it be under British law and where would the process happen (UAE or UK)?

I have just taken a new job and as i am not living with my wife and daughter the company was only willing to give me single status. Which sounds harsh, but i suppose it is understandable.

Any assistance you can offer would be great and please don't hesitate to fire over any questions.

P.S> contrary to popular belief, just because i am an ex-pat and living in the UAE it doesn't mean I have loads of money. LOL Work wise I have had a nightmare couple of years and ended up spending pretty much all of our free cash on housing and schooling.

Cheers,
Bazza.

Hi and welcome

Unfortunately, our legal experts don't deal with divorce so you are going to need to speak to a solicitor over this. Does your company have a legal department - they won't know anything about divorce, but they may have contacts who are able to advise in this area.
