I have my interim on Monday and still not heard from CAFCASS. I've phoned them last week looking for a date as to when they will be in touch and asked if they could phone on the Friday as I'm busy at work. No phone calls nothing.

I've again phoned up today looking for an update and been told it will either be tomorrow or Thursday and havent been more specific than that. I've phone after 9am each time and when the call center contact the case worker it's always a case that they are driving to work and can't speak.

I've highlighted my concerns to CAFCASS that the report will need to be submitted to the court on Friday and that if the report is delayed the judge might not deal with the case until he has a copy of the report. I cant afford for this to happen as I've booked time off work/hotel booked and costs for a 500mile round trip.

I'm also concerned that the report will be be shambolic due to the amount of time left to prepare it.

Is it normal for CAFCASS to leave it this late and will I have a case to claim compensation from CAFCASS for my expenses if they dont get the report together in time?

I realise they are busy but you'd at least think a courtsey call from the case worker would be the least they can do.

In my case I found CAFCAS a waste of time. When the ex told them things, they dont check it out to see if its true. Dont expect too much from CAFCAS

My case goes back a few years, but Cafcass were brilliant in my case (two separate reports) - however, I would expect that you should be able to see the report beforehand. It may be worth giving the court a call to see whether they have a view on it.

CAFCASS case worker got in touch today had a good chat with them explained the situation and i get the impression she was shocked that the ex had cut off all means of me keeping in touch and had refused all requests for updates on my child's welfare and nothing has shown on the background check so there should be no reason as to why contact should not be achived. They still hadnt spoken to the ex today I'll get a copy of the report on Friday so fingers crossed is favourable towards me.
