Hi there,

Yes you do have the right to know where your daughter is. 🙂

If you still have a line of communication with your ex, it might be a good idea to contact her and request that she inform you of her new address. If she refuses then you can tell her that you have the right to know by law, but if she wont volunteer the information, you will have no alternative but to apply to the courts for it. she may back down then, and that would save time and expense. There is a fee for asking the court to intervene, I think its £200, and the form you would need to submit is form C4. This can be downloaded from

www.justice.gov.uk

...or alternatively you can pick it up from your local family or civil court.

If you are unemployed or on a low income you will be entitled to Legal Aid, if not you can represent yourself as solicitors are very expensive! There is a sticky at the top of the Legal Eagle section which has some useful information about representing yourself and would be well worrth having a look at if you were going down this route.

Good luck with everything 🙂
