Hi

First time Post looking for advice.

My Ex moved away to Australia 6 years ago with my Oldest son and I have paid Maintenance since we split up in 2000.
She has since been remarried and both her and her new husband work. My son recently turned 16 and my question is simple. Do I have to continue to pay child maintenance???? We have never involved the CSA we always had an agreement between us however when she Initially left to go to Australia she was supposed to have an agreement set up in Aus to mirror our agreement in the UK so I had right to visit my son etc. However this was never set up and I have only seen my boy once in 6 years (although we have regular chats on the phone and skype on computer). As I said he is now 16 and I would rather set up an account for him personally than line my ex's pockets.

Any help appreciated folks....

J....

Hi

Is your son still in Education? If so, then I'm afraid you still have to pay your ex, as if not, she can get the CSA involved - I believe there is a reciprocal arrangement between the UK's CSA and the Australian equivalent.

Hey

Thanks for the reply. I kinda thought that was the case after a bit more digging but thought I'd put it out there.

Thanks again...
