[Solved] Child support and remarriage

Can anyone help me with some advice please. I have been divorced for several years and have since met someone and we have decided to get married. I currently pay child support to my ex wife through a private arrangement and my 2 children spend every other weekend with me and my girlfriend, although any "parental responsibility" is with me and will continue to be.

My concern is that once I remarry, my exwife could have a claim on the joint household income I.e. mine and my wifes instead of just mine. Is this true / possible?

Thank you

Hi there,

Congratulations on your future mariage!!

In short no the children are your responsibility and not your future wifes so it will only be your income that would be taken into account.

Hope this helps

not questioning the above reply but are you 100% sure on that statement that it would just be basses on the one income and not on the joint income as I personal have been led to believe that it would come down to the joint incomes really hope its not the case

It is only on your income, though I think that and tax credits you receive are also included in the assessment. You could ring the CSA for confirmation of this, and ask them for any information or links to back this up.
