If the nrp and the nrpp are unemployed and have kids (6 from previous relationships) between them, can the pwc/csa take the ctc as net income?

Been forced to separate but kids/wife/myself are desperate to be together.

(lets hope the new reformed cmec will sort all this shizzle out)

Hi

As far as I am aware, the CTC are taken into consideration, but I will ask the CMO to advise further.

Hi Paul,

Regarding tax credits - the CSA bases its calculation on a non-resident parent's income, and that includes tax credits. Perhaps you could think about making a family-based arrangement with your ex-partner? With a family-based arrangement, you can agree between you how much child maintenance needs to be paid. Most parents are happier with these because they are more flexible and amicable. There is a flat rate of £5 per week to be paid if a non-resident parent is on benefits or their net weekly income is between £5 and £100 a week.

You can get an idea of what your payments will be using the Child Maintenance Options calculator:

http://www.cmoptions.org/en/calculator/calculator.asp

For more information about family-based arrangements and access to useful tools and forms online you can visit www.cmoptions.org , or if you'd prefer a confidential chat you could call the Child Maintenance Options team on 0800 988 0988 (free from a landline).

So are you saying CTC are taken into consideration then when unemployed? Because the pwc won't accept a family based arrangement which leaves my Wife 4 Life with no choice but to live apart.

Do you think CSA 3 will address this issue? I would willingly give the % my kids(KIDS) need/entitled to out of my wage/gross earnings.

Hi Paul

I'm Sarah the Child Maintenance Options Consultant. Child Maintenance Options is a separate organisation from the CSA. If you'd like more information about how the CSA works out child maintenance, visit direct.gov.uk. Alternatively, if you would like to contact the CSA then I am sure they will be happy to look into your query. You can find the right number here: https://www2.dwp.gov.uk/csa/v2/en/contact/index.asp

For more information about child maintenance and to access our useful tools and forms online you can visit www.cmoptions.org, or if you'd prefer a confidential chat you could call the Child Maintenance Options team on 0800 988 0988 (free from a landline).

Thanks

Sarah
