Yes you do have a legal right to know where your children are and to be a part of their lives.

You can apply for a Seek and Find Order under section 33 of the Family Law Act 1986. The application is made on Form C4, apart from your personal details this asks for the name, date of birth and [censored] of the child (with a recent photo if possible) and the details of your ex.
You must also give a brief explanation on the form of the grounds for your application and it may be advisable to swear an affidavit in support.
Once the information has been submitted to the court then the application can be effected and proceedings commenced.

If you go to www.justice.gov.uk you will find the form you need and you can print it off, fill it in and take it to your nearest family court. There will be a fee but you will find details of that and a facility to find out where your nearesrt court is located on the justice.gov website. Alternatively you can find the address of the court, you can then go there and pick up the forms. You also have the option of using a solicitor but this will be very expensive.

Once you have found the children it might be that you will need to apply for a C100 contact order to facilitate contact. At the top of the Legal Eagle section you will find a couple of very helpful stickys, one is Contact Order C100 Guide and the other Representing yourself in Court. Have a read through them as you will find lots of good advice there.

Good luck and if you need any help please just ask! 🙂

I managed tpo go to where my daughter goes to day college and asked to see her, after a wait the staff came back to tell me there was a problem and she doesn't want to see me. I half expected this. I still don't knoe where they live and I am going to go through the processes and get the order etc through court. Just so I know and an prepare myself, is there an age which the courts seek the child wishes and if so how does the child wishes affect the decision, just a bit of a guide as I know each case is different. My girls are 15 and 13. Any help appreciated thanks.
