Hi
I had similar, unless you keep the CSA fully up tp date with your financial incommings they will still be calculating the amount you owe on your previous comunication (ie. the last time you submitted your earnings to them). I am pretty sure (please dont quote me) that if you are on benefits they should deduct £5.00 per week at source as your CSA payment.
Any informal payment you have made to your ex will not be taked into account unless:
1. She admits to the CSA she recieved this money.
2. You have proof of these payments, ie, bank statment.

I have found the CSA to be pretty fair if you speak to them, but dont let the arrears build up as they never go away, I ended up paying my ex approx double the amount for 18 mounths to clear my arrears, my ex would not admit, that I had been paying her unoffficially.

good luck

Yep, this is correct, and unfortunately, the CSA don't backdate the re-calculation for your unemployment - they only work from the date they are notified of changes.

Hi
In my experiance, yes, you will have to pay the money to them....they are a goverment orginisation, so like the tax man, you can't beat them. However, if you talk to them, and express the fact you are willing to pay.....but this is what you can afford (etc, etc) due to your current situation they tend to be, pretty fair. The CSA are very bad at communication, as I said before they hit me with a huge bill....although I had been giving my ex money, mine had been nearly 24 months before they told me what I owed, I had been paying, like you unofficially. Your only hope is you ex admits to what you have paid here..Mine did not....good luck bud..
