I am desperate for some advice, I received a letter on the 2nd Feb 2013 from the CSA informing me I owe £17000 from 20 years ago, the dates the demand relates to were for a period when my two kids were over 16, and not in further education, they told me to pay by 1st March 2013 or they would seek a DEO on my salary of £500 per month, I have spoken to them over the phone, I am 60, my wages would never cover this amount, which I truly believe I do not owe, they say it was worked out under a penalty assessment, which they may change if I agreed payments, having read lots of case files my question is this, can they force sell my home to obtain this money, my home is all I have, I am really scared they will force me to lose my home for money I dont really owe.
They say the complaints dept will get in touch with me in 15 days, so scared they will move the goal posts and say the debt is for an earlier period, i have no proof of payments I know I made back then, I have moved four times in the last 20 years.
So worried about this, any advice would be fantastic.
