[Solved] End of school term definition?

Hello all,
Can anybody offer a definition of technically when the school term ends and the holiday begins? To my mind the last day of school, for example the 15th December, is a school day and the first day of the holiday is the 16th December. So, if a court order states that a child will be with one parent during term time and the other during holidays then the child should go to the other parent on the day after school finishes. Is this legally correct?

Thanks for any help, this is actually extremely important to me and though technical has rather large repercussions.

All the best.

I would say that you are correct - if you look on the school website, it gives the dates of the terms and I can't see that there could be any argument against that - the only problem may occur with occasional days.

Hi There

I know my sons school actually list term time and scholl holidays on the website, may be worth looking to see if they list holidays as this then shows the day after term ends as holiday, which i'm guessing is what you need.

If not ask the school to email you with the term and holiday dates.

Thanks for the replies - it has been suggested to me that the term ends at 3.30 when school finishes but to my mind this is not correct nor is it practical. A school day is a school day, and a holiday is a holiday. I'm trying to make sure this is the legal interpretation.

Cheers for the replies - big help.

Hi,

Well I guess that in reality the term ends at 3:30 on the last day of term, when you right it like that.

Do you generally collect from school when you have contact?

I would imaging this could be used to sway things, if you don't normally then you shouldn't be expected too at end of term.
