Hello i have recently spearated with my partner in France and returned to the UK we have a baby of 8 months old born in France who is half french/english and hass a uk passport who is with the mother in France who is making things as difficult as possible for me. Basicly the mother walked out on me when i was at work and ended our 5 year relationship there and then taking our baby away.
What i need is advice about getting access to my child and my rights for custody, who, what departments i should apply to and the steps i need to take.
I know this is going to get very messy with the paperwork ect and i know the odds are not in my favour but i have to fight.

Please could anyone advise me i would greatly appreciate it.

thanks,

paul.

Hi Paul,

Sorry to hear about your situation.

I think you'll need to apply through the french courts and I'm afraid I don't know enough about their legal system to advise you on your next move.

Have you spoken with a legal firm in France? Or perhaps the Foreign Office may be able to guide you in the right direction?

Hi Paul

Can you confirm if you have any legal representation in either the uk or France at the moment?

Hi Paul,

As you are without legal representation I would suggest that you speak to the Coram Children's Legal Centre (CCLC). They offer free legal advice and you can speak to them in confidence. There's a link to their website at the foot of this page where you'll find a freephone number and details of their free webchat service.

I'm fairly certain that you'll need to employ the services of a legal firm in France, but the CCLC will be able to let you know whether there's anything else you need to do.
