Hi - I am a South African expat living in the UK (for the past four years). I was married to a UK citizen in South Africa and got divorced in South Africa. There is a court order in place dictating maintenance responsibilities and visitation rights. After being divorced for ten years I remarried and my wife and I moved to the UK two years later.
During the almost 16 years of divorce I never missed a maintenance payment (even though my visitation rights were violated on several occasions). I have also ensured I provide for my daughter’s tertiary education so much so that neither would have to take out a student loan for studies. The eldest is now 19 and the youngest is 16.
My ex-wife has now has now threatened me by ways of the Reciprocal Enforcement of Maintenance Orders Act.in order to increase the maintenance payments and I would like to know what I can do to fight the increase or possibly get the CSA to step. Obviously I have made my story sweet and short and do not want to get into details of previous lawyers letters, court actions etc.
Thanks for any assistance or advice
Regards
