I have recently signed the legal certificate in regards to going to court for a contact order to see my 16 month old son. However I've become aware that my ex has become highlighted to social services and family worker regarding her drinking, she is also on anti-depressants, has attempted an overdose of medication (subsequently taken to hospital), referred to see a counsellor and a group called lifeline (alcohol). Also she has been leaving my son in the supervision of her 18 yo cousin who was put into care as a child due to abuse from her parents when she is too tired/drunk and my son was taken to see the doctor as he had thrush from being left in a soiled nappy while left with her other cousin. All of which I am very concerned and unsure of whether I can automatically make this part of my case when the contact order goes to court.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi

I would certainly be using this in your case, but I would seriously consider applying for residence. I'd certainly have a word with children's services.

I agree with ACTD. I think you have reasonable grounds to proceed with a residency order and should definitely speak to Children's Services about your concerns.

Thanks for re-affirming my concerns, I've given a written statement to the local social services today, outlining concerns and I've asked for a meeting with the Mother and senior practional officer. I'll post when I've had the meeting.
