Hi - any advice is welcome!
I self-represent at court, but have learned today that the final stage of our case will be heard at a magistrate's court. Never been in one of those: Can my teenage son give evidence? Can I cross examine my ex? Can I (or her legal rep) call other witnesses?
Sounds a bit more like a real court than the family courts - and I'm in danger of performing like Lt George off Blackadder.
any advice would be appreciated.

Its over 18mth since mine was in front of a magistrates court, and i had a solicitor back then. i seem to remember it was a real blur for me and frustrating that i could never get my point across as my solicitor seem to know what he was doing.....i.e. costing me more money as i see it now!.....but at the time i would never have thought i could stand in front of the ex's barister and the Judge and defend myself as well as i have. Its daunting but i've found that preparation, truth and honesty have helped me so much.
This site and its contributers who have been or are going through the same have been invaluable to me....Yoji's Guide to Representing Yourself in Court has been so helpful this last year or so, give it a read.
When facing the ex's solicitor/legal advisor remember that (although it may feel like it) they're not attacking you personally, they're there to do what they can for their client....they will say things that you will hate to hear - you will need to grit your teeth and bite your tongue....but stick to your points and facts.
the truth will be seen by the judge/judges....they've seen hundreds of cases just like ours....and they've seen the lies the ex's come up with to delay and drag things out.
