To get Parental Responsibility and also a contact order? And usually how long does it take to get everything sorted?

Hi jjj2011

It will cost you £200.00 to raise the Application. Both can be done at the same time.

For contact that it dependant on several factors (i.e. Contact currently taking place, the childs age, their needs, other considerations as may be deemed by the court).

Best case scenario it can be granted there and then on the day (provided both parties are in agreement) and worst case exceeding 2years.

If you have any other questions please feel free.

Depends on how you and your ex get on….or don’t.

Mine is a MEGA B*^~@”

October 2010 I started my application for defined contact, I las had a full day with my son 18th Dec 2010, 3hrs Boxing day…..1hr with CAFCASS in March 1hr with Court ordered contact centre…..and that’s been it!
All down to my ex having issues that I “dare take Her to court”….she has a law degree and thinks she can control and do anything she likes…..
She has defied two interim orders made Magistrates court to resume contact as I am not what she been trying to claim I am..(Proven) she been proven to be a liar by CAFCASS and Contact centre and the case has now been elevated to County court just last week.

I’ve spent out £6800.00 so far of money I do not have and have no idea how I’m going to pay back…..i’ve 2 possibly 3 more court dates I reckon based on her track record and these I know I can’t afford so will have to risk losing my little boy through her getting legal aid and a barrister and me having to now fight without legal assistance!

So……11 months…..£6800 so far…..and nothing but grief!!!

were you married to my ex-wife 😮 All of the above apply to her

My case did differ because I suddenly took custody of my children and went for a residence order (actually, that was easy, and was granted at the second hearing) - what was worse were the may hearings to get establish her alcohol addiction (a number of hearings wasted because she didn't comply with court orders) and then to get contact restricted to a contact centre. Cost me about £40,000 in legal fees (I went back later on to get contact reduced further) plus about £90,000 to have the house extended to accomodate my kids - only increased the value by about £50k, so another £40k I won't recover. I am fortunate to have a very supportive family

If I knew then what I know now, it wouldn't change a thing - I'd do it all again. 🙂

My first hearing in October 13th! Once we applied (which cost £200) it took approx 2 months to receive a court date, then a month to wait for the actual dat at court.
Just paid 500 to my solicitor today for her continued work.
