[Solved] How to find a good Barrister

I am trying to get contact with my children but the hearing is dragging (started in Apiril 2013 but postponed again to September) and still I haven't even give supervised contact as the other party has made false allegations against me. My ex-wife and her parents would do everything to prevent me from having adequate contact with children, as they are very unreasonable people.

I am not very happy with my current barrister as she was not sure what she was saying to the judge and she was not clear about the CAFCAS report. So, I think that my current barrister is not a good one, so I need to find a good barrister who could represent me as she has also made false allegations against me for DV. I am not eligible for Legal Aid, so I have to pay privately and this is expensive. #

I wonder whether anyone came across a good barrister who charge reasonably.

Hello UPSI - no connotations from the name I hope 🙂

Barristers can be appointed directly by public access.

I have one who I think is good but it will depend on where you live.

I know Enya has a good reportoire of people that she may recommend to you depending on your location.

Good luck it will be worth it in the end!

HI boycieuk,

Thank you very much for your quick response. I live in London. Do you know a good barrister in London? Who is Enya and how can I get in touch with her?

HI kennymac,

Thanks for your reply. I am dealing with a very difficult family. Unless I find a good barrister, they will try everything to take the children away from me. 🙁

I would think being in London you could take your pick! Of course the higher and better you go the more expensive they will be, have you got a limit?

Hi Nannyjane,

Thank you for your reply. At the moment, I paid the barrister 600 pounds for one appearance in the court.

Legal 500 and Chambers 2013 for children barristers.

Realistically in London if you want a reasonable barrister its about 2K for half a day.

I got quotes between 1-6K. This does not include a conference prior.

Good Luck

Hi Upsi

The Bar Council that Boycie gave you is an excellent place to start, you can also put in the area you live if you want to search that way 🙂

Hi there 🙂

Hmmm £600 doesn't appear to be the going rate, that could be why you weren't very impressed with her. I think you are definitely looking at least £2000 but probably more 🙁
