Please can someone advise me please Me and my wife split up 2years ago. i moved into a bedsit and had nothing from the marital home. I work full time and get £900-00 each month after tax ect , we have a daughter who i was in regular contact until my wife left the country and moved to Thailand were she started her own bussiness up as a travel agent and earns approx £3,000 a month. However she aplied to the C S A and they are making me pay £300 per month child maintainance for my 8yr old daughter But the C S A have not taken into account my wifes income or the fact my daughter does not attend school. I do know i have to pay to the C S A but i did not think they had any jurisdiction in Thailand. I am also paying a 3rd of my wages in rent alone besides household bills. I had to sell my car so i walk to work so can someone advise me what to do about the C S A please,

Hi, I'm Sarah, a consultant for the Child Maintenance Options service.

If your ex-wife doesn't usually live in the UK, then it's unlikely that the CSA has jurisdiction. However, it's not an impossibility so the best thing to do is contact the CSA directly.

Bear in mind, if you do have to pay through the CSA then your ex-wife's income does not get taken into account. Regarding your daughter's educational arrangement, the fact that she doesn't attend school may not necessarily affect your payments. For example, she may be being home-schooled.

I hope this information helps.

Sarah.
