Hi have recently discovered that I am the father of an 18 year old that I wasnt previously aware of. The CSA have calculated maintenance areears of £40K+ but wont take into consideration the maintenance and time that I have have my other two children (11 and 6 years old). The youngest two are maintained through a family based arrangement. The CSA have now applied for a restriction on my property and I suspect their next step will be to force me to sell my house. Is there any way that I can force the CSA to consider the nights that my youngest two have spent with me and the familiy based maintenance that I have paid?

Good luck

I really feel for you mate the CSA seem to be a law onto them self. They have complaints channels and you can appeal at the courts. I have tried this for a similar situation with no luck maybe you will have more luck. I have now wrote to my MP please let me know if you get anywhere and how you did it all the best and good luck:)

Definitely go and see your MP about this - take with you all of your points written out to give to him/her so nothing is missed out. MP's are able to raise the priority of a case so are able to get quicker results and generally, people on here who have involved their MPs do seem to get better results.

I am surprised that you have arrears if you have only just heard - the CSA normally only calculate from when they take the case. I would certainly be demanding a breakdown of their calculations.
