Hi,

I need some help/advice please.

The mother of my 7 year old daughter is taking steps to move my daughter to a new school. I do not want this to happen and have told her this but she says I am powerless to do anything about this.

Do I have any rights on this matter??

Thanks

Phil G

Hi Phil and welcome

This has been discussed elsewhere on the forum recently. Assuming you have parental responsibility, you should be consulted about this. However, ultimately, if there is no agreement about this, the parent with care is the person who takes day to day responsibility for the care of the children and if your ex does change your daughters school, there isn't a great deal you can do about it. It's best to try to negotiate rather than to try to prevent the move if possible.

Hi,

I had a similar experience very recently. my ex tried to move my children to another school. I found out through a 3rd party that she was going to do this. i contacted my solicitor who told me to contact the local education authority. I did and they put a freeze on it until they hear from us both in writing. If you have PR, then I suggest a phone call to your local education authority.

I hope this is of help to you.

Rob
