Hi All,

More advice sought.

For my next court hearing at end of May;

1. is it worth while going in with character statements / references from others with regards to my parenting and relationship with my children?
2. who should I get these from?
- I am considering;
- - Family friends
- - Personal friends
- - Our old childminder (OFSTED Registered)
- - My sister (Registered district nurse)
- - My Mother
- - My Ex's Grandfather (If he is honest his will be favourable)
- - My Ex's Stepfather (If he is honest his will be favourable)
- - The lady who runs our childrens nursery (No reason for this not to be favourable)

Regards,

Dave

...I would think that references from non family members would hold more weight. Your immediate family and friends will of course give a good account of you but people that only know you professionally would be considered to be more objective....just my opinion!

I cant see any reason why you shouldn't include references with your statement, so I'm interested to see what CCLC say on the matter!

Dear DaveR

Thank you for your post.

In terms of Statements from other people we would advise that you request the Courts permission to obtain these statements and put them into the Court arena. You would need to request that the Judge directs this and to do this you would need to file a C2 form which can be obtained from www.justice.gov.uk.

It is important to note that if these statements are put into your Court case then if the case went to a contested fact finding hearing the people who are asked to do the statements may be called upon to be cross examined at a future hearing.

If you require further advice please do contact us via our freephone advice line on 0808 8020 008 available Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm.

Yours sincerely

That's really interesting I had no idea people could be called as witnesses in a family matter
