My partners ex has decided to ask for money, unfortunatly we are unable to afford what she is asking for, although this is less than what the CSA calculator says.

Does it make any difference how much his ex income is? as she takes home more than double his income and she does not pay rent or a mortgage as it is her current husbands property.

I am bitter about the situation as she has taken their child away from her family support and my partner was the main parent carear until April this year and she did not pay anything to my partner.

This situation is made even more difficult as we are expecting our baby in 8 weeks and the timing has not be the best as my wages will reduce and due to a previous over payment from Tax Credits we will receive very little and his ex is not willing to pay anything towards it although it was in their joint account and was spent on their child!

Any advise would be muchly appreciated.

Hi There and welcome.

Unfortunately, what your partners ex earns doesn't come into account when deciding what gets paid for child maintenance.

It will get worked out on his wage alone, though when your baby is born (congratulations btw) there will be a reduction as you will have a child at your address.

I would try and make some kind of private arrangement as if you are unable to agree and she goes to csa you will as you know have to pay at an even higher rate.
