I need help. I have my second hearing at the end of this month and am representing myself. I went to my first hearing blind and only managed to get one visit a week, Sundays 1-5pm. I need to be more prepared this time. Does anyone have any tips? What rights do I have to request more time with my son and what's the best way to go about it?

How old is your child? Sometimes when a child is very young the courts will award less contact at first, but this would be increased as the child gets older.
Have you been asked to write a Position Statement for the next hearing? This is usual and it would help you to get your feelings and wishes across to the judge. In it you would giive a brief history, share any concerns and make your requests for more contact, and the more detailed you are the better. Its quite a formal document and has a specific format.
There is an example of how to write a position statement in the sticky called "How to Represent yourself in Court" which is located at the top of the Legal Eagle Section.
