Had some good news so to speak after making an appointment with a 'diffrent' solicitor. Went to meet him yesterday to discuss my problems and had some relitively good news.
Whilst I do agree the internet has some outstanding information, I will say that sometimes it can be very confusing and miss leading at times.
My ex wife served my divorce partition in Jan 2012. I accepted it and the child contact arrangement and even said id pay for it as I wanted the devorce to go smoothley. Had a pronouncment in June 2012 and had the Nisi shortley after. To this day, thats the last I heard.
My solicitor wasnt the best, and felt I was completley wasting my effots and money. So I discountinued her services and took this on by my self. I completed all the paper work relating to the divorce pertition and wrote about 5 or 6 letters to her my solicitor my self. My mum was very supportive and actually got my points accross cleaer than my solicitor did ! I probabley saved alot of money in the process.
I had been doing some research online, and was lead to believe we could not porceede with the divorce as we cant agree on how our home and possesions is to be split. how WRONG was I !!!!!
I have let this fester now for about 5 or 6 months. Worrying that I cant get divorced untill we have agreed on the finances. My estranged wife is being so childish and orcwad and has egnored my letters for the past 4 months.
My newly appointed solicitor yesterday has pointed out that I can now apply for the Nisi to be Made absolute and pay a fee of £45. And its as simple as that. My ex hasnt applied for it within the 3 months of reciving the nisi. So thats what im about to do.
May seem a bit strange but im absolutley over the moon.
I know ill still have to sort out the finances, and the situation with my children is out of my hands since she got the police and social services involved. I am in the position where i dont feel safe to see my children as I have one [censored] of a bitter and twisted ex wife.
So id just thaught id post for some encouragement for other members who may feel like there is no end to there stresses over kids, divorce and finance battles.
My plan is to get the absolut, sort out the finances, and then try and see my children. I feel a huge weight has been lifted.
So my advice to other members is to hang in there, find a DECENT solicitor. I had about 3 'free' consultations before i chose. I personally feel that a MALE solicitor for us dads is best suited as i genuinley believe women solicitors tend to side with the women, although your paying there wages to represent you!
Hope this offeres some encouragement to other DAD Forum users.
