Sorry if this advice is a bit thin at the moment, but I'd wait to see what your solicitor advises and then we may be able to help further, Unless anyone else in here has any thoughts?

Hi there and welcome 🙂

i know in England you can apply to the court for a seek and find order and also parental responsibility, but if you're in Scotland I dont know if the laws are the same.

Perhaps you could approach her family again and ask them to contact your ex and explain that if she doesnt give you the information about your child that you require, then you will have no choice but to take action through the courts. Tell them you would rather that she cooperate with you in the best interests of your child, and that you wish to be a part of the childs life, that you take your responsibilities seriously and will pursue your rights by whatever means open to you. Try not to come across in a threatening way, but more as a Concerned Dad that wants to do the right thing. 🙂

Good luck with it all and do keep us posted!

what has your solicitor said about a contact order - you won't get her address, but if you can get a contact order, then you have a right of contact and if she disappears again, it's a breach of the order and the courts may help you more. Ultimately, if she keeps disappearing, it's always going to be an uphill struggle.

I had to get a tracing agent to look for the father of my kids who had disappeared for over 20yrs. I got someone from the web and he found him within a week. It cost around £100.
If you have her full name, DOB and previous addresses and any other info then the odds are she can be found but there are no guarantees.

Good luck 🙂
