I currently see my daughter every tuesday and everyother weekend, Her mother has just told me that if i want to see my daughter then i have to see her at her mum (grandmother) house. I havnt been in contact with a solicitor as yet because i want things to be a civil as possible. Can she force this situation on me and my daughter?

Unfortunately without a Contact Order from the court she can. You could try Mediation as a first step, heres a link -

I agree,

Mediation would be a good move, especailly if you want to keep things friendly.

My ex started moving the pick-up location away from the house about 6mths after we split, things were going ok until around that time….i think part of it was she’d finally accepted that I was never going to go back to her and she probably didn’t want me on “her territory”…not sure.

Do you take your daughter away from the ex’s place? Or do you spend time with her in the ex’s place with the ex in another room?

If you are there at her place then it could be that she wants time to herself while you’re spending time with your daughter. i.e: she may have other things to do with her time while you’re there “in her way” so to speak. She may just want the time to herself or for shopping, meeting “friends”, painting her nails…..etc…

If the mother-in-law’s is the only option then its worth it if she’s friendly enough with you. if not then mediation has to be worth looking at.

Have you asked her why the change of location?
