[Solved] Why am I still Paying

Hi, newbie to the forum but veteran to the CSA.
Been paying CSA since 2000. Three boys. Now I pay for 2 of them who are 18 today. They are twins, LOL! Both are now working doing apprenticeships and are salaried and working for decent employers who will be VAT registered. Twin 1 starting working for them Sept 2011, Twin 2 Sept 2012. Twin 2 was in A-Level education till this date. I still have to pay for them as their mother is still claiming Child benefit as both Twins enrolled on A-Level courses in Sept 2011, although Twin 1 never went and commenced his salaried apprenticeship.
I reported to Fraud team and nothing has been done, in fact to be fair to the CSA they agree with me but explain they can not stop payments until she stops receiving child benefit. I have spoken to the fraud team again today who inform me investigations can take up to 2 years. I requested details of who I could complain to about them and they basically told me to go away.

Has anyone any advice for me please.

Thanks

Andy

Hi there 🙂

The only thing I can suggest is to go to your MP with this. Make appointment at their local surgery and take any paperwork that you have. The only other thing I can think of is reporting her to the police but how would your children feel about that....

It sounds like you may have a sympathetic ear from the CSA. Give them a call, and ask them what their procedure would be if you stopped paying - if you can get them to take you to court, then you have the opportunity to put your case and evidence before the court. If you do stop paying, make sure you put the money into a savings account until it's resolved - that way, if it goes against you, then you have the money to pay.

Thanks but money comes straight out of my wage. Nanny thanks also. Children were aware that I gave her the chance to get herself sorted before I reported her to the fraud team. They are aware just not happy with the situation. I wanted them to know that I gave their mum a chance to sort things out before I reported.
As for reporting to the police, that would perhaps be fruitless as the case is a civil dispute and not a police matter.

Benefit fraud is a criminal offence and is a matter for police. The fraud team are evidence gatherers and if they have enough evidence they would then pass it to the police for further action. You could try Crimestoppers.
