My son is doing a 2 day course in college and the CSA has told me i must continue to pay child csupport until he is 19. If the legal age for a child becoming an adult is 18 how is it legal to take CHILD support from me especially as he works whilst not in college.

Those are the rules I'm afraid - if you were living in the household, you would in all probablility still be supporting him.

The rules are here if you need them: http://www.dad.info/dad-talk-forum/legal-eagle/12571-child-maintenance-options-are-on-the-dadtalk-forum#17396

Thanks for the reply. Ive read the rules and after paying child support for over 16 years im pretty miffed. The point i am making is its called CHILD SUPPORT. Im not supporting a child i am supporting an adult. The legal age of a child becoming a man or a woman is 18 in this country whether they can support themselves or not.
THE CSA have no legal right to say they are claiming child support for an adult.

Dont get me wrong my Son will always be my Son but a child will not always be a child and legally that ceases at 18 which is why i believe the CSA are wrong to persue child support after the age of 18 and i guess if that was taken to a court room how could they prove any different?

The simple fact is that the CSA work in the way they do because of the current legislation, so a court would have no choice other than to back the CSA. The system was set up to cover the vast majority of cases as quickly as possible - it's far from perfect, but the alternative would be to take each case individually and that simply isn't possible.
