Hi Derek

Welcome to the forum - I have moved your post as you had put it in the blogs section and we are trying to encourage people to write there own blogs and this post is clearly asking for advice.

Anyway some dads on here have represented themselves and done it for around £200. I think there is even a guide on it for dads to read.

You could also contact the Childrens legal centre as they may also be able to help

Hi there, I would recommend representing yourself at a family law court, it's a form c100, it costs 200 for the court...good luck, I found basically at one point I tried a solicitor and although I was paying her she was on the mother's side...also shows determination representing yourself.

Hi There,

I agree with the above go through court alone and represent yourself as it will be a lot cheaper and the judge will be able to see your emotions when you speak.

A lot of solicitors will recomend you go through court alone for the above reasons and keep them on hand for advice, that said you don't really need them at all unless there are any complications that make things difficult as it really is quite a simple proccess. You don't have to worry about legal speak or things like that the judges are used to self representation now and are accomodating.
