hi everyone hope were all well 😆 my name is craig and i have a question about the caffcass report process as i've recently been to court for the first hearing for a contact order and there making a section 7 report. the question i have is why do caffcass need to find information on my new partner and her children ?? but there not doing the same as regards to my ex partner and her new partner i've been with my partner 6 months or so and really dont understand why they need to do this or what they hope to find out about her and the boys. i cannot find any info on there www. so thought i'd ask some peeps on here to see if you can shed any light on this matter thanks for taking the time to read this and i hope someone can help

Hi Craig and welcome. I can only guess at the answer to some extent, but your children are living with your ex (I presume) so the situation there isn't changing with respect to your children, whereas a contact order is seeking to bring a change of sorts into your children's life so the court needs to be satisfied that there decision won't cause problems for your children. I know it doesn't seem fair, but the parent with care generally has that advantage. I wouldn't worry about it though.
