hi there 2 years ago my ex partner had a child after telling me she wouldnt be able to have children as she had had an accident and had to have an operation which meant she could no longer concieve. anyway i then found out she was having an affair and then much to my susprise i found out she was pregnant, she told me the baby wasnt mine but after 2 years of fighting she finlly give in and let me have a dna test which proved the child was mine, question is do you think im paying to much child maitenance, she recieves £30 a week and im roughly recieving £130 a week and i also have a child with my wife, csa have said they will do a reassesment but my ex is threatening to take me to court if i loer my payments, what do you all think?

Hi Vic and welcome 🙂

You'll find a sticky at the top of the Finance section called "How does the CSA calculate payments". It will tell you what percentage of your salary you are liable to pay in maintenance, and there should be a reduction as you have a child resident with you. You can google CSA calculator and use that to calculate maintenance too.

Once you find out what you should be paying, you'll be a in a better position to argue your point with the ex. I dont think she can take you to court about this but if you get into arrears with the CSA they can take money straight from your wages.
