Hi I am new here and wish this place existed years ago when my kids were young and i had all the problems a single dad gets .
Kids are now in mid 20's and one has made me a grandad .
My problem is the csa , i thought i was finished with them when my kids grew up and i finished paying , but no . 2 years ago their computer hicups again and decides i owe them about £2300 .dating back to 1996 They begin calling me and almost make me ill with the stress of the calls .
Ok back in 1999 iam paying my ex all i can afford and also buying the kids shoes and clothes that they are not getting at home , My ex wants more so goes to the CSA . The CSA asess me at much less than iam currently paying her so i set up a direct debit and do as iam told until the kids grow up . At the time of asessment my ex also told the CSA lies that i had never paid her any money so they tyell me there is approx £1700 backpayments . I dispute this with them and never really hear any more until now . between 1999 and about 2008 when i stop paying the csa also tell me they failed to collect approx £630 worth of my payment due their own system/computer problems .
in 2011 when they contacted me about these arears i began paying them £30 a month to repay the £630 they forgot to collect , iam an honest guy maybe foolish too . Now i have paid that i have cancelled the direct debit and sure enough they are now hassling me for another £1700 approx which i have said i will hang before i pay because my ex lied and i had paid the money and more back in 1996 .
Even if i produce the bank statements and cheque stubs from back then which i still have they say its still not proppf nd they still intend collecting the money from me . they admit the case is too old to take me to court and iam self employed so they cant attatch my wages . However they still say they will collect perhaps by a deduction order direct from my bank account .
I have no way of proving my inocence iam just judged guilty here by a system that has numerous failures and negelected to sort this out since 1999 .
The threats and the way the CSA operative talk to me is beyond belief , it would be easy to continue paying them a small sum monthly and get the problem out of my hair but why should i , i don't owe this money . I don't normally worry or stress but this case is making me feel ill .

They are government sponsored gangsters and they are getting worse! My advice to you is to gather together all the paperwork and make an appointment to see your local MP. They seem to succeed when all else fails.
