Hi,

I'm soon to be a dad, mid September. I still can't believe it. I was just wondering if anyone has any tips for getting used to the first few days, and what it's actually like to be home with your new born baby???

As I said, I still can't believe I'm going to be a father, I just don't know what to expect. I expect my wife to be worried about the labor, whereas I'm busy thinking of what it'll be like during those first few days at home.

Any tips and advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Paul.

Tips?

Get lots of sleep now, you won't get any later 😀

Prepare for the fact that you are going to move from being No 1 in your partners life to Number 2 - this is perfectly natural as baby needs looking after, and you don't. The way around this is to be as supportive as possible - however tired you may feel, your partner will be more so.

Enjoy your time as a new family - it's magical.

Have a camera handy (easier these days with camera phones)

I'm sure there will be lots more advice from dads who have done this more recently than me.

Cheers fellas,

We're having a little girl, we thought it'd be enough of a shock of things at the time of birth, so we didn't fancy 9 months of guessing and a suprise at the end.

I think it's a really usefull site, there seems to be plenty sites around for women and children, but few for us blokes. I think some people forget that blokes need to get things off their chest too.

As the great Bob Hoskins once said...."It's good to talk".

Cheers chaps.

Sleep is a golden thing and enjoy every moment.

Those would be my words of wisdom.

Welcome to the site buddy.
