[Solved] Ears being pierced

Hi im new on here and not sure where I stand, My 5 year old daughter has had her ears pierced and i was not consulted on the issue where do i stand?

Hi and welcome. It's not clear really - if you have parental responsibility, the you should be consulted over medical issues etc, but ear piercing doesn't really come under this unless it caused an infection, and even then consulting you doesn't mean that you can prevent it. I think it's one of those cases where, although it would have been noce if your ex told or asked you beforehand, it's not worth making an issue over it, otherwise your ex will realise that it has annoyed you and there's nothing you can do about it, in other words. As has been said on here many times before, you need to pick your battles wisely.

Hi there,

I'd agree with actd full on this, pick your battles comes up a lot and it's a sensible way of looking at things, Your daughter has had her ears peirced, you don't agree (and i'm not sure I would either) but it has been done and you can't undo it.

Ear piercing is one of those issues that causes married couples to argue - especially for a young child.

The argument is it is probably considered "cosmetic" and therefore treated the same as something like wearing makeup!!

It is hard but the other guys talk sense when they say pick your fights
