Hi and welcome

The simple answer is that she can't do this without your permission, but it sounds like that is now too late. I'll ask the CCLC to give advice on here. Unfortunately, because it's now a bank holiday, it may be a few days before they post a reply, but keep an eye out on here.

As a matter of interest, you obviously know that she's in Belfast - how did you get this information? Is there any particular reason why she has moved there - does she have family over there?

Dear Skippy,

Taking a child out of the jurisdiction (England and Wales) without the other parents consent will constitute abduction which is a criminal offence unless there is a court order in place allowing a parent to do so.

As she has already gone to Ireland you may need to speak with an organisation called Reunite on 01162 556234 who specialise in child abduction.

If you have any further questions please contact us again via our webchat facility. The link to our webchat is http://www.childrenslegalcentre.com/index.php?page=web_chat.

Yours sincerely,

Coram Children’s Legal Centre
