[Solved] Legal Aid

Hi Everyone, my ex wife has moved 250 miles away taking our 2 year old daughter with her, she is telling me that the only access I can have to my little girl is to go to her house and spend time with her there (which I find very uncomfortable) or to meet my daughter at a contact centre. I am not alcoholic, a drug user and have never been violent to my daughter or my ex wife. Now I am living with my partner, it appears that I am no longer entitled to legal aid as we earn too much money to qualify. Can anyone offer me any advice on how to obtain a Court Order for reasonable contact? Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hi Lemarrrrr

Welcome to the Dadtalk site. I hope you will find it a helpful, interesting place to be.

I am sorry your ex has taken this stance. You mention obtaining a Court Order but it may be best if you and she could try to sort this out through mediation in the first instance. If you were to initiate it, it is likely to go in your favour, should you then need to go to court if you can't sort things out at mediation. You can get advice about this through the Children's Legal Centre (number on this site) or by calling the Family Mediation Helpline 0845 60 26 627 http://www.familymediationhelpline.co.uk

I hope this helps. Let us know what you decide and how you get on.
