I am glad to finally find a forum which relates to dads, so firstly I would like to thank the site administrators for taking the time to create this website! I am a fairly new dad, my daughter will be one at the end of May; it’s crazy how fast this last year has gone, but it only gets faster from here I have heard. I have been with my partner for four years now; we are planning on having a second child (hopefully a boy next time) in the next 12 months.

I always planned on marriage before kids but life doesn’t always work that way, and in today’s society I think that it is an achievement to still be with your partner as much as anything else! I say this as my parents split up last month after 31 years of marriage; they were the only couple I knew who had stood the test of time. We will marry although my partner would like my daughter to be able to walk down the aisle... Sorry I am digressing, I joined to get chatting to other dads, and I am interested in finding out about your parenting experiences to help me with all of the tough decisions that lay ahead and to hopefully pass on some of my own experience to help other dads out there.

I look forward to speaking with you all!

Hi Indiedad

Welcome to Dadtalk, I hope you're going to find it a great place to be. Your little girl sounds adorable, good luck with your future planning!

It must have been quite a shock to find out about your parents splitting up after such a long marriage. Great to hear that it hasn't put you off though.

Look forward to reading your posts.

Hi Indiedad,

Welcome to the site mate. If you wanna chat with other dads you have come to the right place.

Its not just the first year that flies past, it all goes far to quickly, my daughter is 15. It seems like only yesterday I was teaching her to ride without stabilisers and teaching her to swim.

Cherish the time spent with her mate.

Gooner
