Hi all, new to the site - not sure if I'll find what I'm looking for. In a nutshell I've not had contact with either of my boys for about a year now. I am at wits end now to contact them - where can I find some father/son mediation service. Thanks in advance for any support. Regards

Hi Godber,

It's quite difficult to advise with so little information.

How old are your boys? Do you know where they are living? Is there any court orders to say that you should not have contact?

I'm assuming that as you are enquiring about father/son mediation they must be older children, otherwise this wouldn't be an option.

There are two options you might consider. The first is using the Mediation service, they do run child inclusive sessions and you would ask about this when you contact them. There is a charge for this unless you are on a low income or on benefits. you can check this here. www.gov.uk/check-legal-aid ...Here's a link to the mediation service www.nfm.org.uk

You might also like to consider Relate. They have trained counsellors and specialise in family relationship problems and when relationships break down. There will also be a charge for this service. Here's a link www.relate.org

Best of luck.

Hi Nannyjane,

Many thanks for the response,

The boys are 15 & 17, they are living in the matrimonial home. There are no court orders.

I want to open up discussions & move forward.

I'll try the numbers you've given, I'll let you know how it goes.

Regards

...I hope you can find a way forward, they are old enough that you can talk to them openly....I think your best bet would probably be Relate as they are relationship counsellors and trained in helping in situations like yours.

I know a year must seem an awful long time but the bond you made with them for the years before the split from them will count for a lot I'm sure....they are probably missing you just as much as you are missing them.
