Hey all

Im Richard have moved to U.K from New Zealand me and my wife are having our first child due in aug. Was looking just to find a place where I can communicate with other dads and was impressed with website. I apologise for any daft questions in advance. I would be particularly be interested in meeting some other new fathers or anyone in the Derbyshire area.

Thanks

Hi Spinyadas - Welcome back to the forum.

Lack of sleep is the killer but it is well worth it. Do you know if your new arrival is a boy or a girl yet ?

You get used to sleep deprivation after a while, and I also remember that my hands became immune to boiling water from the number of times I spilled it while sterilising bottles.

Well we are due imminently well i guess technically we are overdue as due date was 2nd. In regards to the the sleep thing i gotta say im getting use to it as my wife tends to keep me awake because she is so uncomfortable so im feeling a little more prepared than I was. So we have all bags packed ( well if im telling truth I have had bag and car seat in car for a while now as I travel a bit and thought was best to be prepared) and now just playing the waiting game its quite a strange feeling esp when at work and everytime phone rings im thinking is it time its all quite exciting really but def ready to crack on.

Cheers Rich

Hi Spinyadas

CONGRATUALTIONS on ELLA ... awesome 😀

So hows the first 7 days gone? Hopefully not to badly and you are all getting used to new routines etc. I remember bringing J home (number 1 son) and placing his car seat on the floor with him in it, sitting myself on the sofa and thinking [censored] what do i do now 😆

That was 6 years ago and i think i've done OK with J and Harvey (number 2 son).

Heres to MANY happy years ahead mate.

Hi Harveys Dad

Well being a Dad is so rewarding but also alot of hard work we had quite and ordeal with the birth but i can appreciate that when we did get home it was a bit like so Ella you gonna do a dance or make me Tea but nope nothing. We found first couple nights quite hard with us pretty much taking turns at staying up with her she didnt like her moses basket but now she cant get enough she feeds and goes to sleep well wakes up like 4 am then sleeps till 6am or 9am which is brilliant. I have really enjoyed spending two weeks with my wife and daughter but unfortunately i now have the next step of me going back to work which will be hard leaving my two favourite girls. We not to bothered about routines at moment just letting Ella guide us to what she wants. I must say im really impressed with the support we have been offered in Chesterfield with lots visits and phone call from support groups has been really reassuring for us. Luckily for us Ella has taken really well to feeding which is great news for us. We have found doing anything during the day requires alot more organisation and things take longer to get ready. ooppps forgot dinner burning

thanks Richard
