Hi All
I am a step father to 2 beautiful girls aged 13 & 15 and have been given the news that my darling wife is expecting, I am delighted with the news though I am also nervous about the future.
Anyway hi to all other fathers using this site, I hope to contribute as well as I possibly can.

Hello all,

I was hoping to find some advice on how to fit every thing into life.. I go to work, I get home early enough to spend a couple of hours with my 2 year old son and have the weekends free. It's all great but my garden is a mess, I don't have time to sort out my car and I am forgetting what the inside of a pub looks like. Any offers on how to organise this?

Hi Pinky

Welcome to Dadtalk and join the "I had a life before fatherhood" club!!

I am afraid to say it doesnt get any easier as they get older - the garden is full of abandoned footballs, trampolines and toys
The car is a mess and full of empty drinks bottles and crisp packets - obviously I am the ONLY person capable of cleaning it out, and I spend much of every weekend ferrying one or other to some sporting event!!
As for pubs - they are a distant memory!!

However you adapt - when your youngster starts school you meet new friends and you have BBQs/drinks/meals with other parents who share your frustrations, you also meet them at the various sporting events.

The other thing to remember is to have some me time - maybe one day a month doing something you want - I play golf or go to the gym - and also couple time (not as easy).

We also make sure we go to the cinema once a month, we always eat together where possible and also have as many days out as possible.

Being a dad is fantastic - i love it and my life is continually changing to adapt around my kids who are now 14 and 11

Hi Pinky, Great to have you joining the party...

As for your question.... Put that stuff on hold for about 18 years and party with the kids

Look forward to chatting.
