Calpol

As a kid I remember faking being ill to get a 5ml (or in those days 1/4 oz) of Calpol (other paracetamol-based strawberry-type medicines are available). Now I sense that it is more than the painkilling ingredient that attracts Adlai… I certainly don’t blame him. That fake strawberry flavor has proved to be elusive in my adult life.

Why do you think they don’t make adult medicine taste as good as Calpol? Why did it all have to get so stinkin’ serious? As adults, we have the choice of chalk or capsule flavor… great. I suppose I should be grateful they don’t make strawberry flavored medicine… I’m sure I’d drink dangerous amounts…

“Hello my name is Simon… and I’m addicted to Calpol.”

Faith tells me they don’thave Calpol in America. Yep. The American dream runs on chalk flavored medicine. Shocking. I think Faith is pretty keen on Calpol, too. On the plane journey back from America earlier this year, Faith allegedly had a “headache.” We didn’t have any adult paracetamol, so she “had” to take a big swig of Adlai’s Calpol. A likely story.

I can feel a headache coming on right now, actually. Let’s hope we’re out of Nurofen.
