Hi all,
My son was moved 100 miles away from me, when he was 7. I had always lived 10 minutes' walk from him, and now he's a 2hr train ride away.
Worse than that, the train is insanely expensive. It's at *least* £30 each way, often a lot more.
It is, however, cheaper if I use my Family & Friends Railcard with him, for both our tickets.
But I cannot buy a return ticket (obviously I need the return part of the ticket if I'm taking him to his mum's house) because if I then travel on the return without a Child, I'd be given a fine.
This seems messed up, and crazily unhelpful for single parents.
Does anyone have this similar problem and know of any workarounds?
Thanks
hi,
are you paying maintenance through CMS? if so you should be able to claim those as travel expenses for child contact.
@bill337 Thanks - no, we don't do anything through CMS, I just pay maintenance directly.
